A Time to Clean: 30 Day Challenge

How a Messy Home Reflects the Heart

A Time to Clean: 30 Day Challenge

I'm guilty. I'll admit it. I often have a neat home.... 15 minutes before guests arrive.

The thing is, even when the living room and dining room are {mostly} neat, but there is still clutter that is distracting. And more times than I like admitting, I'm gathering up clutter from around the house and stuffing it in a closet or in my bedroom - anywhere to keep it hidden until I can find time to deal with it.

Do I feel the need to do that because I don't want people to see the truth? More than that, why do I have clutter to begin with? Does material clutter find it's beginnings in the recesses of my heart? A messy house just might be symptomatic of a much deeper sickness.

These are the things we'll be looking at during A Time to Clean: 30 Day Challenge.

How it Will Work

So, when I do a series like this, I tend to prefer a Monday - Friday schedule. I personally need weekends off. So, this 30 Day Challenge will take us six weeks total.

Hopefully, by the time the holiday season begins we will see the main parts of our homes clean and ready to receive friends and family. By the end of the challenge, we should see our homes well on their way to being clutter free and organized - hopefully for good - because we'll be looking deep into the heart of the matter.

Here's the Commitment:

  • Purge at least 1 bag of clutter from your life per day for a total of at least 30 bags.
  • We will daily look at heart issues and discuss tips and tricks to get our spaces organized
  • You will be tested, your heart will be torn open, your life will be changed.
  • Upload your pictures to Instagram - use hashtag #atimetoclean2018 {optional}
  • Check in each Friday on Facebook and share what's going on in your life.
  • Share this challenge with a friend and/or share the image above on Pinterest. Thanks!!

What You'll Receive:

  • Daily devotional
  • Weekly lessons that include audio and video downloads

Ecclesiastes 3:6,7

Ecclesiastes 3: 6, 7 "A time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak..."

A time to search... our hearts.

A time to give up... our pride.

A time to keep... what really matters.

A time to throw away... the clutter.

A time to tear... apart our ideas.

A time to mend... what has been broken.

A time to be silent... and listen to HIM.

A time to speak... truth.

Because God is a God of Mercy.... and His love is never ending. He will hold our hand through the darkness and lead us into light.

If you’ve ever felt like your mistakes were too big or too bad or too unforgivable, you’re in the right place. I want you to know that no matter what you’ve done in the past, God redeems our mistakes.

Hi there! My name is Melissa Ringstaff and I've been writing here at A Virtuous Woman since 2001. I'm just as passionate about this ministry today as I was back then - maybe even more so! I'm so excited to have you here with me. There's so much I want to share with you. I want you to know you can find freedom from perfection and the confidence to live your life with purpose!

You see, I longed to have what I considered to be the perfect life.

But shame and guilt colored every aspect of my life and no matter how hard I tried, no matter how hard I planned or worked – all I could see was my failure. I knew that God loved me. I knew that He could forgive all sin. I believed. I prayed. I read my Bible. But deep down, I didn’t think He could do that for me. I didn’t believe I was worthy of love and forgiveness.

The problem wasn’t that God couldn’t forgive me, but that I couldn’t forgive myself. Jesus said, “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” I accepted His gift of unconditional grace and that’s when I was set free from the bondage of shame, guilt, and perfectionism.

Let me show you how you can find peace in your heart and peace in your home through spiritual and practical application. Learn how you can become a Proverbs 31 woman today. It’s not as hard as you think – and my guess is you’ll be surprised when you join me on this journey of faith.

All it takes is one small act of faith to begin this journey of grace-filled, purposeful living.

One small act of faith is all you need to get started and once you’ve taken that step you’ll take another and another and another.
